My Vista has become nearly un-usable suddenly. Task manager shows explorer.exe is using 50% of the CPU. I have rebooted a couple of times. If I use task manager to kill it I can run programs using the application tab. The computer works OK without explorer. But then I have no task bar so hopefully this is temporary. Client: Windows Vista and higher (Including IA64). Server: Windows Server 2008 and higher (Including IA64). Simply run Process Explorer (procexp.exe). The help file describes Process Explorer operation and usage. If you have problems or questions please visit the Process Explorer forum on Technet. Note on use of symbols: When you.

Introduction

Ever wondered which program has a particular file or directory open? Nowyou can find out. Process Explorer shows you information about whichhandles and DLLs processes have opened or loaded.

The Process Explorer display consists of two sub-windows. The topwindow always shows a list of the currently active processes, includingthe names of their owning accounts, whereas the information displayed inthe bottom window depends on the mode that Process Explorer is in: ifit is in handle mode you'll see the handles that the process selected inthe top window has opened; if Process Explorer is in DLL mode you'llsee the DLLs and memory-mapped files that the process has loaded.Process Explorer also has a powerful search capability that willquickly show you which processes have particular handles opened or DLLsloaded.

Hii everybody
this is my question:
I've installed Windows Vista on my PC a month ago and everything was alright at first
but after 2 weeks it goes very very slow
and in the task manager it shows that the explorer.exe operation is using 50% of the CPU (i have a dual core CPU)
and now i have the same problem on Windows 7 on my Toshiba Qosmio laptop
although i tried everything such as Windows Update.. Repairing.. and Tuning up software but nothing solved the problem
so the only thing that would solve the problem is the brain of someone in this forum
I also have Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 on both of my laptop and desktop
so it's not a virus or worm
Thanks in advance to everybody
